Longwood beats NJIT 85-70

FARMVILLE, Va. (AP) — Antwan Carter scored 28 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Longwood past New Jersey Institute of Technology 85-70 on Saturday.

NJIT (6-8) trailed by three, 26-23, with 10:09 left in the first half before Longwood used a 10-3 run to take a 36-26 lead. NJIT would close the gap to six, 50-44, in the second half. But David Robinson nailed three straight 3-pointers to put the Lancers back up by double-digits.

Longwood (5-11) would extend their lead to 15 with 5:45 left in the second half behind a Jeremiah Bowman layup.

Martiz Washington had 18 points, Bowman 16 and Robinson finished with 12 for the Lancers. Washington and Robinson combined to make eight 3-pointers.

Longwood outshot NJIT from the field 56 percent (32 of 57) to 41 percent (26 of 64).

Chris Flores scored 19 points for NJIT.

The Lancers were 13 of 15 from the line.
