Loyola Marymount hits 11 3-pointers in 79-68 win

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Drew Viney scored 20 points and Ashley Hamilton added 16 as Loyola Marymount tied a season high with 11 3-pointers in a 79-68 win over San Diego on Saturday night.

Loyola Marymount (9-7, 2-1 West Coast), which shoots 33.2 percent from 3-point range, hit 55 percent from beyond the arc (11 of 20) to win for the third time in four games.

Freshman Johnny Dee scored 24 points, including six 3-pointers, for San Diego (5-10, 0-3), which has lost six straight.

The Lions held a huge advantage in rebounds, 43-33.

Loyola Marymount trailed 28-21 in the first half before outscoring the Toreros 15-3 in the final eight minutes to take a 36-31 halftime lead.

Although San Diego got to within 64-62 on Anderson’s basket with 6:35 left, Loyola Marymount never relinquished the lead.
