Mosley, Northwestern State beat Texas State 83-68

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) — William Mosley had 15 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks as Northwestern State defeated Texas State 83-68 to win its Southland Conference opener Saturday.

The Demons (8-7) jumped out to an 18-6 lead, but the Bobcats used a 19-5 run to push ahead 25-23 at the 6:01 mark.

Northwesetern State closed out the half with a 12-4 spurt.

After Texas State got within four, at 35-31, Mosley made two dunks, Louis Ellis hit a 3-pointer and Shamir Davis made a layup to help the Demons build an 11-point lead.

The double-double was Mosley’s fifth of the season. He ranks No. 5 nationally in blocks per game and, with 388, needs four to break into the NCAA career Top 25.

Davis added 14 points and Demetrice Jacobs came off the bench for 14 points and seven of Northwestern State’s 20 assists.

Vonn Jones scored 18 to lead the Bobcats (8-7, 0-2).
