SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Tevin Svihovec scored 16 points and Emmanuel Addo 10 to lead Northern Colorado to a 61-53 victory against Sacramento State on Saturday night.

The Bears (5-9, 2-1 Big Sky) shot 57.1 percent (12 of 21) in the second half to maintain a small but steady lead.

The Hornets (5-9, 0-3) got within two points with 8:16 remaining, but a Tim Huskisson dunk and 3-pointer by Elliott Lloyd put Northern Colorado up 49-41. Sacramento State closed to within 57-53 in the final minute, but the Bears were able to protect that cushion with free throws.

John Dickson scored 12 points and Joe Eberhard and Jackson Carbajal added 11 each for the Hornets.

Northern Colorado, the defending Big Sky regular-season and tournament champion, won on an opponent’s home floor for the first time in five tries this season.
