ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — After further review, the NFL overturned Siena’s plans to live-stream a New York Giants playoff game during a college basketball matchup.
Siena wanted to show the Falcons-Giants game live on the scoreboard in its home arena Sunday afternoon in an effort to entice fans to show up for its game against Niagara. Both games had 1 p.m. starts.
Siena officials say the NFL has told the school that it would be violating the league’s copyright interests by simulcasting the game.
The Giants have a large following in the Albany area, especially since the team has held its training camp in the city 15 times in the past 16 summers. The lone exception was 2011, when the Giants changed plans because of the NFL lockout.
