LOGAN, Ohio (AP) — School officials say one of four people killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Ohio was a loved and respected high school Spanish teacher.
Authorities in southeast Ohio’s Hocking County say they believe a man caring for his terminally ill wife killed himself after shooting to death her two sisters and his son.
A spokesman for the Westerville schools in suburban Columbus says the son was 38-year-old Leroy Gilkey, a teacher at Westerville North High School since 1999.
A sheriff’s dispatcher said Tuesday he had no information on the names of the victims and the gunman.
A cousin says the man was upset because the other family members were keeping him from spending time alone with his wife, who was not shot.
