NEW YORK (AP) -- Anaheim Ducks forward Jean-Francois Jacques has been suspended for three games by the NHL after he illegally checked an opponent in the head during a game Sunday.
Jacques will also forfeit more than $23,780 in salary for the suspension, the league announced Monday.
He elbowed Columbus' R.J. Umberger in the head in Anaheim's 7-4 win Sunday night after the Blue Jackets forward took a shot at 14:17 of the third period. Jacques was called for a five-minute major penalty for elbowing on the play.
Jacques is a repeat offender who was also suspended for two preseason games and five regular-season games in September after illegally coming off the bench and trying to start a fight with Vancouver's Mike Duco.
