Florida Atlantic defeats Arkansas State 58-50

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) — Greg Gantt had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead Florida Atlantic to a 58-50 victory against Arkansas State on Monday night.

Alex Tucker added 16 points and seven assists for the Owls (6-11, 2-2 Sun Belt).

Ed Townsel had 17 points and five assists and Malcoln Kirkland added 16 points for the Red Wolves (8-10, 2-2). Brandon Peterson collected 11 rebounds.

A 10-0 run during a 3:51 stretch of the second half gave Florida Atlantic control. Gantt and Tucker had four points each during the surge, which made the score 43-32 in the Owls’ favor with 14:27 remaining.

In the second half, Arkansas State shot just 35.7 percent (10 of 28) from the field and made 1 of 8 free-throw attempts.

Kelvin Penn had eight rebounds and four blocks for Florida Atlantic.
