LOS ANGELES (AP) — New UCLA football coach Jim Mora has dismissed defensive back Randall Carroll, defensive end Wesley Flowers and tight end Raymond Nelson from the team.

Mora announced the decisions Monday after his first team meeting of the new year.

Flowers and Nelson were dismissed from the team for violating undisclosed rules, while Carroll has been dismissed from UCLA for failing to meet its academic requirements.

Carroll was a disappointment during three years at UCLA as a receiver before moving to defensive back late this season. The former California high school sprint champion was allowed to play in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec. 31 after appealing his academic standing.

Nelson is the brother of Reeves Nelson, who was kicked off the UCLA basketball team last month.
