Ore. man to serve nearly 19 years for sex abuse

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A 39-year-old Florence, Ore., man has been sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison for the repeated sexual abuse of an underage girl.

Christopher Michael Kemp was sentenced Monday in Lane County Circuit Court.

Deputy District Attorney Erik Hasselman tells the Register-Guard the abuse is believed to have started when the girl was 8 years old.

Kemp pleaded guilty last month to felony charges that included sexual abuse and sodomy.

The newspaper says that under state Measure 11, Kemp is not eligible for early release.
