MADRID (AP) — Spanish police are investigating the death of a U.S. student from Seattle in Barcelona but so far do not suspect foul play.

A spokeswoman said Monday that Crispin Scott was found dead Saturday in an apartment in Barcelona province. She said he had gone out Friday night in Barcelona but apparently had later left the city with some others.

She said an investigation was under way but could give no more details. She spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with police policy.

Scott, of Seattle, was a student of Dartmouth College, N.H. He was abroad on a program run by Portland State University.

The U.S. embassy in Madrid said it was in contact with the student’s family and police.
