MADRID (AP) — Spanish police says they are investigating the death of a U.S. student in Barcelona but at this point do not suspect foul play.

A spokeswoman said Monday that Crispin Scott was found dead in an apartment in Barcelona province on Saturday.

She said he had gone out Friday night in Barcelona but apparently had later left the city with some others.

She said an investigation was underway but could give no more details.

She spoke on condition of anonymity in keeping with police policy.

Scott, of Seattle, Washington, was a student of Dartmouth College, New Hampshire. He was abroad on a program run by Portland State University.

The U.S. embassy in Madrid could not comment on the case but said it was in contact with the family and police.
