WASHINGTON (AP) — Early results from an exit poll of people voting in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary show that the economy is easily their top worry.

About a third of those voting Tuesday said they are looking for a candidate who can defeat President Barack Obama this fall, slightly more than said they want one with the right experience or with strong moral character.

More New Hampshire voters also say they’re looking more at the issue positions of the candidates than at their personal qualities. And about two-thirds say they are satisfied with the GOP field.

The preliminary results come from interviews conducted for The Associated Press and the television networks with 1,774 New Hampshire voters. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
