LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) — Stan Okoye had 18 points to lead four Virginia Military Institute players in double-figure scoring as the Keydets cruised past Liberty 71-57 Tuesday night.

Jordan Weethee added 12 points, Michael Sparks 11 and Ron Burks 10 for VMI (8-9, 3-4 Big South Conference), who snapped a two-game slide.

The game was close early — with VMI leading 15-14 with 11 12 minutes left before intermission — but Sparks and Burks hit back-to-back 3-pointers to spark an 8-2 run. The Keydets were never really threatened again, leading by seven points at the break and outscoring the Flames 40-33 to seal it in the second half.

The Keydets outshot the Flames from 3-point range, 30 percent (9 of 30) to just an 18.2 mark (2 of 11), with both Burks and Sparks hitting three apiece.

Antwan Burrus, the Flames’ only player in double figures, led Liberty (5-13, 0-6) with 10 points.
