CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) — Lindsey Vonn led the opening training session for a World Cup downhill Thursday, showing that she has recovered from the stomach illness that slowed her last week.

Racing in a resort where she has five career victories and 11 podium results, Vonn clocked 1 minute, 33.42 seconds on the Olympia delle Tofane course, finishing 0.38 seconds ahead of Lucia Recchia of Italy. Vonn’s American teammate Stacey Cook third, 0.43 back.

Last weekend in Bad Kleinkircheim, Austria, Vonn was ill and had her four-race unbeaten streak in speed events broken by finishing fourth in a downhill. She then placed 18th in a super-G to miss the World Cup podium in that discipline for the first time in nearly three years.
