CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (AP) -- Lindsey Vonn led the opening training session for a World Cup downhill Thursday, showing she's recovered from the stomach illness that slowed her last week.
Meanwhile, American teammate Chelsea Marshall crashed and broke her left shoulder blade. Doctors also were evaluating her injured her right knee, the U.S. Ski Team said.
Vonn clocked 1 minute, 33.42 seconds on the Olympia delle Tofane course, where she has five career victories and 11 podium finishes. Lucia Recchia of Italy was 0.38 seconds behind, and American Stacey Cook was third.
Last weekend in Bad Kleinkircheim, Austria, Vonn was ill and had her four-race unbeaten streak in speed events broken by finishing fourth in a downhill. She placed 18th in a super-G to miss the World Cup podium in that discipline for the first time in nearly three years.
