SEATTLE (AP) — Washington State Revenue Director Suzan DelBene says she’ll join the crowded field running for the 1st Congressional District seat.

The Democrat, a former Microsoft executive, made her announcement Thursday. DelBene was defeated in 2010 by Republican Dave Reichert for the 8th District seat.

Among the Democrats who have already announced their candidacies for the position now held by Democrat Rep. Jay Inslee, who is running for governor, are businessman Darshan Rauniyar, state Sen. Steve Hobbs, former state Rep. Laura Ruderman, Rep. Roger Goodman and political activist Darcy Burner. The Republicans have already drawn Snohomish County Councilman John Koster and business consultant James Watkins.

DelBene said she’ll be resigning as revenue director, effective Thursday.

Under the recently-completed redistricting process, the 1st is seen as a competitive district that would now stretch from east of Seattle to the northern border.
