Letter: Clean water is vital to our community

The Friends of Clark County’s mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life in Clark County. Central to that goal is the protection of our clean air and water resources.

As a board member, I and others have concerns that the failure of Clark County to follow the Clean Water Act will lead to a decline in the resources we care for.

This failure is apparent in the lack of enforcement of existing county, state and federal rules and regulations that exist to protect and improve environmental quality. This is especially noteworthy given that 100 other Washington state municipalities were able to do so.

Furthermore, there appears to be catering to special interest groups that will result in a high cost to taxpayers and environmental resources. Hopefully, the officials of Clark County will take note and protect our limited air and water resources.
