Oral Roberts slips past W. Illinois 71-70 in 2OT

MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Dominique Morrison hit the game-winning free throw with 3 seconds left in double overtime and finished with 27 points Thursday night as Oral Roberts defeated Western Illinois 71-70.

Morrison hit a jumper with 1:12 remaining to tie the game at 70, then was fouled by Obi Emegano on the next possession for the Golden Eagles (15-4, 7-0 Summit). Morrison hit the first free throw for the go-ahead score, and missed the second.

Morrison missed a 3-pointer at the end of the first overtime period after Tommie Tyler tied it for Western Illinois (9-6, 4-3) on a pair of free throws with 12 seconds remaining. Tyler also hit two free throws with 11 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.

Steven Roundtree added 12 points and eight rebounds for Oral Roberts.

Emegano had 17 points and Terell Parks 16 for Western Illinois. Ceola Clark added 11 points, 10 assists and four steals.
