Philly PD: 1 arrested in Winter Classic fan fight

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- A New Jersey man is facing charges for his alleged role in a brawl between Flyers and Rangers fans that injured an off-duty police officer and Iraq war veteran following the Winter Classic outdoor hockey game.

The Philadelphia district attorney's office says 32-year-old Dennis Veteri was arraigned Friday morning and released after posting bail.

Police say Veteri took part in the altercation outside a cheesesteak shop following the Jan. 2 game.

Woodbridge Township, N.J. police officer Neal Auricchio was injured in the fight. The former Marine earned a Purple Heart after being wounded in Iraq in 2007.

A phone listing for Veteri could not immediately be located.
