SEATTLE (AP) — Forecasters say a cold front moving across Washington on Saturday will replace stagnant air with precipitation that will probably fall Saturday night as snow in places.

The National Weather Service expects accumulations of 2 inches or less in Western Washington, with more possible in the Puget Sound convergence zone north of Seattle. Heavier snow is forecast for the mountains.

Forecasters say the chance of rain or snow showers will continue next week with low temperatures in the low 30s in Western Washington and 20s in Eastern Washington.

The snow forecast is welcome by ski resorts and dreaded by some drivers in the Seattle area. The city has prepared snow plows and de-icing trucks to keep major roads open.
