WSUV offers diabetes education workshop

Washington State University Clark County Extension is offering free diabetes education workshops beginning in February.

The five-week session begins Feb. 21 and runs through March 20. Each workshop begins at 1 p.m. on Tuesday and lasts about 90 minutes to 2 hours. All classes are held at Glenwood Fire Station Community Room, 12603 N.E. 72nd Ave.

The Living Well with Diabetes workshop also includes a follow-up event three months later at 1 p.m. June 19 at the Glenwood Fire Station.

Advance registration, including a commitment to attend all classes in the series plus the follow-up meeting, is required. To register, call 360-397-6060.

The series provides informative support from a registered dietician on healthful eating, label reading and controlling fat, sugar and cholesterol in your diet; equipment and ideas to help increase activity levels; and initial and follow-up measurements to help you track your progress.

The series also requires consent for blood pressure and A1c test to be performed and the completion of two surveys about diabetes.
