MILAN (AP) -- AC Milan says it has extended the contract of coach Massimiliano Allegri for two years through June 2014.
The 44-year-old, who joined Milan from Cagliari in 2010, said Friday he was glad "to have the opportunity to work for Milan for another two years."
Milan won the Serie A during Allegri's first season in charge, currently is tied for first with Juventus and has advanced to a second-round matchup with Arsenal in the Champions League.
The contract extension was announced two days before Sunday's high-profile derby against Inter Milan.
