ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Catchy Tune defeated Long Lake Krista by a head to win the $61,400 Rex Chapman feature at Santa Anita on Friday.

Ridden by Martin Garcia, Catchy Tune ran 6 1-2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:12.38 and paid $35.20, $13 and $6.60 at 16-1 odds.

Long Lake Krista returned $4.60 and $3 as the 2-1 favorite. Talktoomuch was another nose back in third and paid $3.60 to show.

Catchy Tune had been winless in her six previous starts and idle since Aug. 31, when she began tailing off. Co-breeder John Toffan says she was given time off and showed she wanted to train again.

The victory, worth $36,000, increased Catchy Tune’s career earnings to $130,990, with three wins in 11 starts.
