Mountain View junior Carly Holboke has been voted as The Columbian high school athlete of a week in a poll of fans on Facebook.

Holboke collected 52 percent of the 508 votes that were logged between Monday and Thursday night to outdistance Columbia River boys basketball player Isaiah Smith (32 percent).

Holboke had a record-breaking week for the Mountain View girls basketball team last week. Holboke broke the Mountain View single-game scoring record when she tallied 39 points in an overtime win over Fort Vancouver on Jan. 3. That record only lasted a few days, when she scored 46 points in a win over Hudson’s Bay on Jan. 7. Holboke ended the week averaging an area-best 26.1 points a game.

The other candidates were Columbia River boys swimmer Nicholas McMillan, Mountain View wrestler Jonah Hansen and Fort Vancouver girls basketball player Mar’Shay Moore.

Check back at The Columbian prep sports’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/360preps this weekend for nominees for next week’s athlete of the week. Voting begins on Monday.
