So, according to Roger Jones’ Jan. 7 letter, “Governor taking wrong course,” gays now control our military and most areas of mainstream society? Wow! I must have been napping when this happened.
I didn’t realize the president, the joint chiefs of staff and all of the military generals had come out of the closet.
I didn’t realize that our schools were now only teaching gay math, gay science, gay physical education and gay sex education.
I’ll also need to do my homework when I buy my next car so I understand which gay car gets the best gas mileage.
Such unabashed homophobia is laughable. Ask the citizens of Iowa, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., etc., if their lives have been drastically altered by the legalization of gay marriage in their states. Or if their lives have been altered at all.
Ask any member of the military if his or her job has become harder because a fellow soldier came out.
Jones’ thesis seems to be that if we push gays and lesbians back into the closet that homosexuality will simply go away and disappear. But thousands of years of history contradict this. What he’s really saying is that pushing gays and lesbians back into the closet will make life more comfortable for him.
