Davidson edges Appalachian State 83-79

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Jake Cohen had 21 points and De’Mon Brooks scored the last seven points in a decisive 10-0 run late, as Davidson topped Appalachian State 83-79 Saturday to stay unbeaten in Southern Conference play.

After Appalachian State took its first lead of the game on Omar Carter’s 3-pointer with 4:48 left, Brooks and the Wildcats (12-4, 6-0) responded by scoring 10 straight points over the next 2:48 to open a 79-70 cushion.

Chris Czerapowicz added 13 points for the Wildcats. JP Kuhlman finished the contest with six points, scoring his 1,000th career point on a free throw in the first half.

Carter led the Mountaineers (7-9, 3-3) with 17 points, Jamaal Trice scored 15, Andre Williamson tallied 14 points and Isaac Butts recorded 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Davidson has won a season-high five straight games, while Appalachian State has alternated wins and losses for the past six contests.
