MULTAN, Pakistan (AP) — Police say a bomb has struck a religious procession, killing 13 people in eastern Pakistan.
District Police Chief Sohail Chatta says the blast happened during a traditional Shiite mourning procession in the town of Khanpur in Punjab. He says the bomb appeared to have been planted ahead of time in the path of the procession.
Another officer, Ghazanfer Ali, says the crowd of mourners started throwing rocks at police after the blast and officers had to lob tear gas canisters into the crowd to control them.
