BOLTON, England (AP) — Bolton is hoping to bring United States defender Tim Ream to the English Premier League.

With American midfielder Stuart Holden already a key member of Bolton’s squad, manager Owen Coyle is aiming to sign his international teammate from Major League Soccer’s New York Red Bulls.

Coyle says Ream “is a player that we would love to bring to the football club, and hopefully in the next few days that can come to fruition.

The 24-year-old Ream is likely to replace England international Gary Cahill, who is on the verge of a transfer to Chelsea.

Coyle says “it is just a matter of the contracts being exchanged between the relevant parties to conclude the deal” for Cahill.
