Belmont routs Florida Gulf Coast 95-53 in A-Sun

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Ian Clark and Kerron Johnson scored 13 points apiece as Belmont routed Florida Gulf Coast 95-53 Monday night for the Bruins’ sixth win in seven games.

Belmont (13-6, 6-1 Atlantic Sun Conference) led wire-to-wire, starting with an 18-4 run. By halftime, it was 49-19 as the Bruins outshot the Eagles 50 percent (17 of 34) to 28.6 percent (6 of 21).

Belmont shot better than 54 percent from the field for the second straight game. Fifteen Bruins played at least 4 minutes apiece and all but three scored, shooting 54.7 percent (35 of 64) and 45.2 percent from beyond the arc (14 of 31).

Belmont dominated inside, outrebounding Florida Gulf Coast 40-22 and outscoring the Eagles 42-18 in the paint.

The Bruins scored 22 points off 18 Florida Gulf Coast turnovers.

Filip Cvjeticanin scored 11 to lead the Eagles (8-10, 4-4), who shot 37.5 percent (18 of 48).
