A man was detained by Vancouver Police officers late Monday night after allegedly assaulting some of his family members and fleeing into a field, according to emergency radio traffic monitored by The Columbian.

Vancouver Police officers converged in the area of Northwest Cherry and 58th streets, southeast of Vancouver Lake and near Franklin Park, at 10:25 p.m.

Officers used a thermal camera, spotlights and a tracking dog to find the man, who allegedly had a gun, and worked to keep family members safe in case the man returned. Officers also kept track of the suspect’s guns to see if all were accounted for.

About 11:35 p.m., a 911 dispatcher said officers had a suspect detained. No shots were fired.
