BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox have agreed to minor league contracts with right-handers Aaron Cook and Justin Germano, potential candidates for the fifth spot in their rotation.

Boston announced the moves via Twitter and said both would receive invitation to the major league spring training camp.

Cook was 3-10 with a 6.03 ERA in 17 starts and one relief appearance last season with Colorado. He has spent all 10 of his major-league seasons with the Rockies, going 72-68 with a 4.53 ERA.

Germano is 8-20 with a 5.02 ERA in six major league seasons with San Diego, Cincinnati and Cleveland. In 2011, he was 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA with the Indians before being sold to South Korea’s Samsung Lions on Aug. 5.
