Washougal residents released from hospital after Longview crash

A 64-year-old man and 58-year-old woman, both from Washougal, were treated and released from the hospital after a Sunday afternoon crash near Longview.

David and Dixie Weich were eastbound on state Highway 4 just before 2 p.m. Sunday when their 2006 Dodge Charger was hit by a 2002 Dodge pickup truck, a Washington State Patrol release said.

The driver of the pickup, Jason Marthaller, 48, of Longview was westbound on the road about four miles west of Longview when his car slid in the slush on the right side of the road, struck the westbound guard rail, bounced off, crossed the road and collided with the Weichs’ Charger.

David and Dixie Weich were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview with chest, neck and back injuries. They were treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said Monday morning.

Marthaller was not injured but was cited for speeding too fast for the conditions, patrol said.

Both cars were totaled.
