LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former University of Southern California tailback Stafon Johnson has settled his lawsuit over a 2009 weightlifting injury.

Johnson played two years for the Trojans and is now with the Washington Redskins and sued USC and a former coach for negligence after his neck and throat were crushed by a 275-pound weight on Sept. 28, 2009.

The suit says Trojans assistant strength and conditioning coach Jamie Yanchar was responsible for “spotting” Johnson during a lift.

City News Service reports USC and Johnson lawyers say in a statement that both sides agreed to a settlement and the terms are confidential. Notice of the settlement was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday.
