NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Tyler Brown scored 24 points, including a key 3-pointer during a late 15-0 Illinois State run, and the Redbirds defeated Indiana State 67-54 Wednesday night.

Indiana State was leading 51-48 with less than 5 minutes to play, but Brown’s 3-pointer with 3:31 left put the Redbirds in front 53-51. Brown then made two free throws and another jumper, and the Sycamores didn’t score again until Jake Odum made two free throws with 54 seconds left.

Jackie Carmichael and John Wilkins of Illinois State each reached double figures in points and rebounds. Carmichael had 17 points and Wilkins scored 13; both grabbed 11 boards for the Redbirds (12-7, 4-4 Missouri Valley), who ended a three-game losing streak.

Odum was the only player in double figures with 15 points for Indiana State (11-8, 2-6). The Sycamores have lost three straight and five of their last six.
