Letter: Double standard exists

So, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta vows to bring the four Marines that allegedly urinated on four terrorists bodies to justice.

The photo of this heinous crime against the sensibilities of the tenderhearted Taliban Muslims has been seen around the world.

Maybe Panetta would just like to get into The Columbian archives and remind the Muslim world of the crimes against various Taliban prisoners over the years — the beheadings, the dragging of corpses through the streets, and the hangings that took place on the very public bridge for all the world to see three years ago.

Why is there still this double standard, with Americans having to apologize for blinking wrong at the enemy, but the enemy can fly planes into our buildings and destroy the family lives of more than 3,000 innocent victims?
