MMA’s ‘Iron Mike’ facing prison in Vegas sex case

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge in Las Vegas will decide whether a mixed martial arts fighter once featured on Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter” will go to prison for attempted sexual assault of a woman in April 2010 at his home.

Michael “Iron Mike” Whitehead is due Thursday before Clark County District Court Judge Douglas Herndon.

Whitehead is 30. He could face two to 20 years in prison, and will have to register as a sex offender after pleading an equivalent of no contest last September to one felony charge.

The plea avoided trial on four sex assault, attempted sex assault and lewdness charges.

Whitehead was charged after a 32-year-old woman accused him of attacking her while she slept and a 28-year-old woman alleged he groped her at his home following a party.
