KITZBUEHEL, Austria (AP) — Overnight rain and wet snow forced organizers on Friday to cancel the men’s World Cup super-G, the first of three races at the traditional Hahnenkamm event.

Conditions were expected to improve for Saturday’s classic downhill on the Streif, though it was not immediately clear how seriously damaged the course was by the rain and mild temperatures.

The final downhill training on Thursday had been canceled to protect the course.

A slalom is scheduled on the Ganslern course on Sunday.

It’s the first time since 2007 that one of the Hahnenkamm races was called off because of the weather.
