Hartford continues resurgence, beats Maine 63-49

ORONO, Maine (AP) — Wes Cole and Genesis Maciel came off the bench to combine for 25 points as Hartford continued its run toward respectability with a 63-49 victory over Maine Thursday night in America East Conference action.

The Hawks (4-14, 4-2) won for the fourth time in their last five games. Leading 27-20 at halftime, Hartford went on a 15-8 run to open the second half. The Hawks were up 59-41 with 3:20 left and eased to victory.

Forward Mark Nwakamma scored 12 points on 6-for-8 shooting, while Andres Torres added nine points. For Maine (8-9, 2-4), Alasdair Fraser was the only player in double figures with 12 points.

The Hawks hit 51.2 percent from the floor (22 for 43). Maine was just 20 of 52 (38.5 percent). The Black Bears made 3 of 13 treys while Hartford was 8 for 20 from beyond the arc.
