Monmouth (NJ) beats St. Francis (Pa) 68-50

WEST LONGBRANCH, N.J. (AP) — Mike Myers Keitt scored 17 points and Monmouth (N.J.) snapped a four-game losing streak with a 68-50 win over St. Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday night.

Leading 34-31, Monmouth went on a 12-2 run to lead 46-33 with 12:26 remaining. St. Francis pulled to within seven points but the Hawks kept the lead in double digits over the final 4:34. Monmouth made 12 straight free throws in the final 2 minutes to seal it.

Dion Nesmith added 14 points, Will Campbell scored 13 and Jesse Steele 12 for the Hawks (4-16, 2-5 Northeast Conference).

Monmouth forced 23 turnovers and held the Red Flash to 35.1 percent (20 of 57) shooting from the field. Monmouth didn’t fare much better, making 38.6 percent (22 of 57).

Scott Eatherton had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Red Flash (4-14, 3-4), who have lost six of their past seven.
