STEVENS PASS, Wash. (AP) — Snow kept people home from work and school on Wednesday, but they found their way to Western Washington ski slopes.

Stevens Pass officials say they saw three times more skiers and snow boarders than a typical wintery Wednesday.

The Daily Herald (http://is.gd/pw7YJV ) reports that by 1 p.m., about 3,000 people had made it to the pass to ski or snowboard in the deep powder.

Stevens Pass received about 16 inches of new snow Tuesday night and another few inches of snow on Wednesday night.
