COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Former Ohio State and NFL quarterback Art Schlichter (SHLEES’-tuhr) has been arrested on charges he violated his bond conditions by twice testing positive for cocaine.
Authorities also say the 51-year-old Schlichter either refused to provide urine samples for drug testing or declined to show up for such testing three times.
Schlichter made a brief appearance before a U.S. magistrate judge Thursday in Columbus following his arrest at his central Ohio residence a day earlier.
Schlichter pleaded guilty last year to federal fraud charges stemming from a million-dollar ticket scheme.
Authorities say the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback whose NFL career was derailed by a gambling addiction defrauded more than 50 people in the ticket scheme that began in 2008.
