NEW YORK (AP) — Honchis’n Ponchis ended a 12-race losing streak Friday, beating Honest Gold by 214 lengths in the $64,000 allowance feature for fillies and mares at Aqueduct.
The 6-year-old trained by Dale Romans returned to the winner’s circle for the first time since Nov. 22, 2009 at Churchill Downs. The time was 1:11.21 for the six furlongs on the fast track.
Junior Alvarado guided her to the fourth victory in 28 career starts, paying $11.20, $5 and $3.20. Honest Gold returned $9.30 and $6 while Promise Me a Cat paid $3.50 to show.
