ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Coach Bob, the longest shot by far in a field of five 3-year-olds, led from the gate and won with ease Friday in the $58,000 Nothing to Chance Purse for California-breds at Santa Anita.

Running for the first time in Southern California and having won just once in seven starts in Northern California, Coach Bob and jockey Eswan Flores shot straight to the front and only extended their lead in the homestretch, covering six furlongs in 1:09.14.

Coach Bob paid $47, $12 and $4.20. Exotic Slew was second and paid $4.40 and $3. Rockinarz Recruit paid $3 to show.

The heavy favorite, Motown Men, was fourth.

Trained and partly owned by former jockey Reina Gonzalez, Coach Bob earned $34,800 for his second win, taking his career total to $57,260.
