VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Christine Sinclair had a goal and an assist Saturday night, and Canada clinched a place in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament with a 2-0 win over Cuba.

Sinclair converted a penalty kick in the 17th minute and supplied the cross for Melissa Tancredi’s goal in the 24th. Sinclair scored four goals in Canada’s opening match and now has 125 in international play.

Canada improved to 2-0 in the eight-team tournament and will face Costa Rica, also 2-0, for first place in its group on Monday. Both teams have secured spots in the semifinals, but winning the group is crucial to avoid an expected do-or-die semi against the top-ranked United States. The two semifinal winners will represent the region at the London Olympics.

Cuba dropped to 0-2.
