BALTIMORE (AP) — Michael Harper scored a game-high 28 points to lead Coppin State to a 77-57 victory Saturday over North Carolina Central in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.

The Eagles (9-10, 4-1) led 60-52 with 8:15 remaining before closing with a 17-5 run to win going away.

Dominique Sutton led North Carolina Central (9-9, 3-2) with 24 points but Ray Willis was his only teammate in double figures with 10. Sutton hit 10 of 18 field goal attempts but didn’t attempt a 3-pointer. Coppin had a huge advantage in that category, making 12 of 27 shots from 3-point range. North Carolina Central, meanwhile, was just 2 for 19 from beyond the arc.

That easily negated North Carolina Central’s 36-18 advantage in points in the paint. So did the Eagles’ 24-8 edge in bench scoring.

Michael Murray and Tony Gallo scored 10 points apiece for Coppin State.
