Hill leads UTSA past Texas State 80-75

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Jeromie Hill had 24 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double in leading Texas-San Antonio past Texas State 80-75 Saturday.

UTSA (12-7, 5-1) nearly squandered a 10-point lead with 2:29 remaining. Travis Jones and Brooks Ybarra of Texas State (8-10, 1-4) each hit a 3-pointer amid a 7-1 run over the next two minutes. Forced to foul, Texas State saw UTSA go 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the waning seconds to secure the Roadrunners’ victory.

Ybarra finished with 24 points and Jones added 18 to lead the Bobcats.

UTSA never trailed and its largest lead was 14 points at the 18:27 mark of the second half. For the game, the Roadrunners shot 50 percent from the floor while the Bobcats shot 38.2 percent.

Melvin Johnson III scored 15 points and added five rebounds for the Roadrunners.
