Morehead State pulls away from UT-Martin 62-56

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — Drew Kelly scored 14 points to lead four players in double-figures and Morehead State beat Tennessee-Martin 62-56 on Saturday night.

Milton Chavis had 13, Angelo Warner 12 and Marsell Holden chipped in with 11 for Morehead State. Kelly also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Jeremy Washington’s jumper to open the second half cut Morehead State’s lead to one, 26-25. But Tennessee-Martin wouldn’t get any closer as Morehead State used an 11-3 run to take a 37-28 lead.

The Eagles (10-11, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference) pushed their lead to 50-37 behind a Chavis layup.

Despite making 94 percent (17 of 18) of their free throws, the Skyhawks were outrebounded 34-24 and only hit 3 of 12 from 3-point range.

Morehead State outshot Tennessee-Martin (3-18, 0-8) from the field 45 percent (22 of 49) to 38 percent (18 of 47) and recorded eight steals.

Troy King led Tennessee-Martin with 15 points.
