Back home in Minnesota, McHale shrugs off return

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kevin McHale is back in his home state of Minnesota.

He’s not wistful about the winter weather. Whether McHale is sentimental about returning to the arena where he helped shape the Timberwolves for 15 years, well, he wouldn’t let on.

Before Houston’s game against Minnesota on Monday, McHale said simply he’s been to Target Center “for a lot of good times and bad times.”

McHale predictably tried to turn the conversation to the Rockets, who arrived on a six-game winning streak.

The former Timberwolves executive was hired this season to coach the Rockets after two years as a TV analyst.

McHale was fired by the Timberwolves in 2009 after serving mostly as general manager and two stints as head coach.
