Big comeback by Siena defeats Iona 65-62

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — OD Anosike scored 17 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as Siena rallied to defeat Iona 65-62 Monday night after trailing by 18 points less than 5 minutes into the game.

Iona (15-5, 7-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) led 20-2 with 15:27 remaining in the first half. Scott Machado scored 12 of his 16 points during that hot start.

The Saints (9-10, 4-5), who lost 95-59 to Iona on Jan. 3 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, trailed 57-46 with 9:01 remaining. A 12-0 run, with five points each by Kyle Downey and Rob Poole, gave them their first lead, 58-57, with 4:22 to play.

The lead changed hands three more times before Downey’s jumper put Siena ahead 63-62 with 51 seconds left.

Downey finished with 16 points and Poole 14, and Anosike’s double-double was his 15th in a row.

Mike Glover had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Iona.
